U.S. EPA Reports Record Penalty Levels for 2010

In 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency required polluters to pay over $110 million in civil penalties and $12 billion in environmental cleanup and other projects, the highest totals ever according to Waste Business Journal.
In a press release, the EPA stated that, when completed, the enforcement actions should reduce pollution by 1.4 billion pounds.
